Strava Challenges

Lockdown 2.0 is almost upon us, so we’ve decided to pick up some challenges and keep you motivated through the next month (or so) until hockey returns. We’re starting on Monday 9th November…

Each member completes an activity, and points are awarded. Points are totalled weekly and are assigned to your team. Teams are based upon who you would usually train with / play matches for. Please remember to workout safely, and distanced from others.

First? Join Strava. Second, join our team (you have to request, and I’ll respond ASAP). Third, get active and banish the Lockdown Blues. There might be prizes. We’re thinking about it.

October Update

Hey. So we’ve made it to the 10th month of the longest year ever.

Our Kit shop is open – but only until midnight on Sunday 18th October… You know you’ve only a week left to buy stuff, right? Best crack on!

This season depends on you, the member. We need you to be on the ball. You gotta have your track and trace form from England Hockey completed. You gotta have your Club Membership Form completed. You gotta have your subs paid. All the info regarding prices is available on the Membership page of our website… Yes, there are a lot of links here, but armed with all the information in one place, you can do your part.

In other, more fun (and slightly competitive news), we also have a Strava group! Come and join us.

Socially Distanced Hockey

We’re back! Well, sort of. England Hockey published guidance, and the Executive Committee have worked alongside SLC to ensure we have a safe and compliant option for a phased return. Click on the picture below for the full EH document.

What does that mean at Club level? It means attendance is very limited, social distancing applies, and if rules aren’t followed, you’ll be asked to leave.

Tickets for our sessions will be available via our shop from 7pm on Thursday for the following week’s groups. One ticket per person, and tickets are non-transferable. Any questions? Get in touch via email, facebook, or your Captain. Here are our rules:

Finally, above everything else, please stay safe!

Covid-19

England Hockey have updated their statement on the current Covid-19 pandemic. The full article can be read here.

At the remaining games, we will be following the recommendations provided by EH:

  • Facemasks will be disinfected before and after matches
  • Handshakes will be replaced with stick-taps https://twitter.com/Xenioshockey/status/1235819830562832384
  • Equipment will not be shared between players/umpires
  • Washing facilities will be available, with an appropriate provision of hygiene products

Any person who has developed a continuous cough/fever should follow advice from the NHS and stay at home. The full article can be read here.

Half Term – Feb 2020

Week commencing Monday 17th Februrary

Adult training will continue as normal, weather permitting. Any alterations will be posted on Facebook & Twitter (and you’ll probably hear from your Captain too!)

Junior training will WILL NOT be running during half term.

Make sure to like and follow our pages for the most up-to-date information!

Kit Update!

You should all have your hoodies now – the other items are at the clubhouse waiting to be collected. Best make sure you visit sometime soon… Please note that only captains can hand out kits – the last thing we’d want is for any to go wandering off.

Sadly, some of the socks came in the wrong sizes. This has already been addressed, and we’ll have the right sizes very soon.

Kit (Update)

The kit is with the printers – as soon as we have them, we’ll let you know! We hope to have everything ready for when we reconvene in January. Christmas was a long-shot, and we tried, really we did – sadly, it just wasn’t possible.
