Men's 2nd XI vs Sevenoaks M6

Ville travelled away for a late game against league stragglers Sevenoaks. For once the sun was shining and after a short warm up and a decent team talk Ville got underway looking to carry on from last week’s strong performance.

The game started evenly with pressure being put on both defences. A little against the run of play Ville broke the deadlock courtesy of the Sevenoaks defence, with D Hooper claiming the assist/goal!

Ville managed to get another through a reverse stick shot by Simon, the half ending 2-0.

A spirited half time team talk focused on the areas we needed to work on second half and it paid dividends within 5 minutes of the restart. Two quick goals from Simon; leaping like North Atlantic salmon at the far post to volley it into an open net, and Perks, who with his back to goal pirouetted and swept it to goal to make it 4-0.

Sevenoaks scored from a short corner. A lovely drag flick that our postman waved at like he was saying goodbye to a loved one.

A short corner was awarded to Ville when Sidders courageously broke through the Oaks defence while being repeatedly fouled by their centre back. The corner was well worked with Perks slipping it to Simon who played a lovely ball to the back post for JK to tap it in.

Another back post JK tap in came from a delicious ball from Seb into the D from just outside the 23. 6-1 to the Ville and ten minutes left to play.

The quality dropped and Sevenoaks won a series of short corners. Hughes pulled off some amazing reaction saves including three in a row to keep Oaks out.

Solid defending from Walkom and Max was undone near the end as Sevenoaks scored a breakaway goal against the run of play. Final score 6-2 to Ville. Not a great performance but a great result!
